Francesco De Domenico Posted June 7, 2017 Report Share Posted June 7, 2017 The first Italian convoy from Brindisi to Argostoli on 3/4 May 1941 was made up of piroscafi GALILEA, 8,040 grt/1918, ARGENTINA, 5,083 grt/1907 and FRANCESCO CRISPI, 7,000 grt/1926, with 3,058 troops on board for the occupation of Cephalonia, under the escort of old cruiser BARI and TBs ALTAIR, ANTARES and ARETUSA; however, none of them fits. On 28 May 1941 we have a Taranto to Argostoli/Patras/Rhodes convoy made up of motorship CITTA' DI AGRIGENTO, 2,430 grt/1930, (going to Argostoli), motorship CALDEA, 2,703 grt/1927, and former Yugoslavian cargo steamer DUBAC, 2,819 grt/1901, continuing to the other destinations, under the escort of armed motorship BARLETTA, 1,975 grt/1931, and TBs ARETUSA and ANTARES. On 2 June 1941 we have a Porto Edda to Argostoli convoy with motorship CITTA' DI TRAPANI, 2,467 grt/1929, and piroscafo SILVANO, 4,234 grt/1906, with old TB NICOLA FABRIZI. On 12 June, again steamer FRANCESCO CRISPI with old DD RIBOTY Brindisi to Valona to Argostoli, going on 18 June on to Patras. On 21 June, steamer CITTA' DI BERGAMO, 2,163 grt/1914, Argostoli to Patras alone.At a guess, I'd say the most likely choices are DUBAC or SILVANO or CITTA' DI BERGAMO.
