Vedi anche: https://www.poheritage.com/the-collection/galleries/Photographs/Ships/SYRIA-as-a-troopship La foto potrebbe essere la stessa, ritoccata per far apparire la nave in navigazione. Francesco De Domenico Posted September 4, 2022 Report Share Posted September 4, 2022 SYRIA, un piroscafo misto passeggeri/cargo costruito da Sir Raylton Dixon a Middlesbrough, n. costruz. 589, varo 10.8.1914 e consegna 2.1915 a National Steam Navigation Co. Ltd. of Greece, Andros Island. 2.068 grt, 1.272 tsn, 79.2 x 12.3 metri, macchina a triplice espansione, un'elica, 14 nodi. Nel 1920 ribattezzato ANDROS per lo stesso armatore, dal 1924 al 1926 a Byron SS Co. Ltd. di Londra, dal 1926 torna a National Steam Navigation Co. Ltd. of Greece ma con porto di armamento al Pireo, nel 1937 a Hellenic Coast Lines Co. Ltd. del Pireo, nel 1939 a Hellenic Mediterranean Coast Lines Co. Ltd. sempre del Pireo. Requisito come nave ospedale nel 1940 con 185 posti-letto dalla marina greca. Nonostante le insegne di nave ospedale affondato da bombe di aerei italiani o tedeschi a Loutraki, a ovest del Canale di Corinto, il 23. o 24. 4.1941, con tre morti tra l'equipaggio. GABRIELEM Posted September 4, 2022 Report Share Posted September 4, 2022 Buon pomeriggio, Del piroscafo SS SYRIA, ho trovato anche alcune informazioni nel sito WRECKSITE del quale allego il link. Sembra che il SYRIA abbia cambiato nome in SS ANDROS e successivamente durante la WWII in HS ANDROS perchè diventata nave ospedale. Il 23 aprile 1941 fu affondata nel porto greco di Loutraki da bombardieri italiani. Dell'SS ANDROS allego una foto del credo...1930. Tutto quello che ho scritto e che troverete nei dati di Wrecksite, deve essere verificato e validato da ulteriori prove documentali. Ho visionato anche alcuni volumi del LLoyd's Register tuttavia della SS SYRIA costruita nel 1914 non ho trovato traccia.
